BY GRACE I'M SAVED

By grace I'm saved, grace free and boundless; my soul believe and doubt it not.
Why stagger at this word of promise? Has Scripture ever falsehood taught?
No! Then this word must true remain: By grace you too will life obtain.

By grace God's Son, our only Savior, came down to earth to bear our sin.
Was it because of your own merit that Jesus died your soul to win?
No, it was grace, and grace alone that brought Him from His heavenly throne.

By grace! None dare lay claim to merit; our works and conduct have no worth.
God in His love sent our Redeemer, Christ Jesus, to sinful earth;
His death did for our sins atone, and we are saved by grace alone.

Curiously enough, polls show that many who identify themselves as Christians believe that good works help get them into heaven. This hymn tells a simple truth that refutes this all too common belief.

Here's the Good News! In the ultimate expression of His love, God the Father sent His Son Jesus to be born a human, endure rejection and suffering in a sinless human life, and die on a cross. By His death Jesus made divine payment for the sins of all people. Three days later He arose from His tomb. Because of His death and resurrection we are spared the eternal damnation that awaits all who refuse to trust in God's grace. We have been delivered from death to eternal life! It is now our joy and privilege to know and serve God and His people here and now. We respond to God's loving grace with gratitude by acting in loving ways to others.

We welcome you to join us at Bethel Lutheran Church where we saved sinners join together to worship our loving, gracious Lord.
